In 1979, the original of this L-1011, registration N751DA, in the 1/400 scale was the first of a total of three jets of its kind that Delta had ordered to expand its long haul network. Soon after, Delta purchased four more of them from Pan Am, which marked the beginning of the ten-year process in which Delta Air Lines took over the legendary airline.
